ATTN: GREENHOUSE MANAGER:
CAN I SPECIAL ORDER SOME POTS OF BLOOMING RYBECKIA KNOWN AS “IRISH EYES”? THANX. PLEASE LET ME KNOW ABOUT PRICING, IF I CAN DRIVE TO YOUR DISTRIBUTOR, THE TIMETABLE, ETC. THEY HAVE GREEN CENTERS.
Yes, I can get those in 1 gallon size. There is also a similar variety called Irish Spring that is very similar. It has a finished width that is just slightly narrower than Irish Eyes, but just as gorgeous. Not enough people know about these green eyed beauties!
Thanks for your question!
do you have any mountain laurel about 2 foot high?
Yes, we have full sized Mountain Laurel that is 2′ tall now and matures at 4′-5′, but we also have…
Thanks for your question.
Is the semi-dwarf “Elf” mountain laurel native to our area? And it is evergreen, right? Thanks.
Thanks for your question. It is a good one and we get similar questions frequently about native plants. In this case, mountain laurel is, of course, native and it is also evergreen, However…Elf is a dwarf that is a hybrid derivative of a rare dwarf plant that was found in the wild back in the 1800′s. It could, therefore, not accurately be called a true native. Often perennials are called “native” when,in fact, they are hybrid derivatives of a native plant. Echinacea, for instance, is a native plant in our area, but there are hundreds of newer hybrids that are still echinaceas, but were never found in the wild in our area. They are derived from the original variety that is a true native, but they could not be considered natives themselves. There is not a standard definition of “native” when it relates to plants but, basically, a native plant will have grown in a particular area for a long period of time without human intervention. Hope that helps.
Do you have any Rose Of Sharon?
Thanks in advance
Julie
Yes, we have them as a tree form and bush.
Do you carry giant sequoia saplings or redwood trees? I think they are the same. My daughter would like one for her birthday. Can you help?
We only carry the Dawn Redwood which grows about 100 feet tall, whereas the Giant Sequoias and Coastal Redwoods grow up to 300′ tall. The Dawn Redwood is also deciduous and its needles turn a beautiful red shade in the fall.
Do you have the Greenspire Linden tree?
Yes, we do have the Greenspire Linden in a 15 gallon pot. They are over 8′ tall and the regular retail price is $145.00, but they happen to be on sale through Oct. 14th for $94.25. There are only 5 left, so hurry in!
Looking for variegated japanese laurel…do you have any in stock?
No, sorry, we do not carry them. If you check with us in March, it may be an item that we can add to one of our spring orders. Thanks for checking with us.
Hi, I work at a preschool and I am teaching about Pandas and Bamboo. Do u have some bamboo, and how much does it cost?
Brittany, we do have bamboo, but it is quite expensive because we only sell the clumping types that aren’t invasive. They are winter hardy in this area and we keep them outside, so they have their winter look to them. They are in 3 gallon pots and are $55.95. We could give you a better deal since they are going dormant and don’t look as green and lush as they do during the season. Still…they are expensive for a preschool demo. If you are still interested, give a call and we’ll see what we can do. Thanks for your inquiry!
Do you have any coffee plants? If so, how old are they?
Yes, we carry them in 3″ and 4″ pots. I can’t really tell you how old they are. I would call them “seedlings” We are also able to get them in 10″ pots in the spring and they are much more mature plants…sometimes they even have beans on them!
Does anybody know where I can buy Red Roses plants?????please advice
We carry red rose plants in the spring and summer in climbing, shrub, dwarf and hybrid tea.
Will you have lobster mulch this year. It made a huge difference in my garden. Hardly any end rot and very healthy plants. thank you. Mary
Yes, we plan to have it this year…we have gotten great feedback from our customers. Thanks for your comments!
What is lobster mulch??? Do tell…
It is actually a compost made from the shells of lobsters. It is really great stuff! Here is a link you can click on to read more about it or to watch a video about it. http://coastofmaine.com/soils-quoddy.shtml You’ll enjoy the quick video and it gives you lots of information. Enjoy!
Do you have sour cherries that grow on bushes rather than trees?
No, sorry. The only bush cherries that we carry are sweet. We will be on the lookout for them though! Thanks for checking with us.
I have numerous exotic tropicals(Ficus, Sago palms, etc.) which have gotten too large for areas in my house. Some of them need a little bit of TLC and rehab, though. Do you guys accept donations of tropicals, whereby you can rehab them and resell them? I just hate to have these die off for no reason. Thanks.
NO, sorry but we cannot do that, but now that it is on our website, maybe someone else will contact us if they would like to have them! Thanks for checking with us.
Will you be carrying Lobster Mulch again this year
Yes…love it!
Hi,
Do you carry ranunculus bulbs or flowers?
We do carry both Ranunculus bulbs and flowering plants. The flowering plants are in stock now, as Ranunculus is a cool weather bloomer, but the bulbs will not be along for a few weeks. To answer your earlier question, we carry dahlias in both flowering plant and bulb, as well. The bulbs will be in sometime in the next few weeks, but the plants will probably not be ready until the second half of April. Thanks for your question!
Do you carry witch hazel diane?
We don’t have much call for witch hazel, at all, but we do have Arnold’s Promise in stock. They are quite large and are normally $200, but we could offer them at a discount because they have just finished blooming. If you are unable to find the variety Diane and are willing to take 3 or more, we can see about special ordering them for you. Thanks for checking with us.
Do you carry the Sapphire Skies Yucca and if so, what size container and how much?
They are in stock now…finally!
I believe they are $12.99.
If I purchase any type of berry bushes when is the soonest I can expect it to start producing berries?
You will generally get a little fruit starting the first year, assuming that you are buying a decent size plant , like ours, to begin with. Some folks suggest removing any fruit that sets for the first year or two to give the plant more energy to grow and to develop roots.
Hi, can you get ponderosa lemon trees? I would like to buy two. I am also looking for sweet lime and true citrus soil to plant them in. Thanks
We are currently out of Ponderosa Lemons. All we have right now are Meyers. If you cannot find any and want to give us a call and put your name on the list for Ponderosa, we will call you when they come in…probably not until May. We do not have access to sweet lime at this point in time, but maybe as it gets more popular, our suppliers will start to carry it. I am not sure what you mean by “true citrus soil”. When we repot citrus, we use a commercial potting soil and add grit, sand and Miracid fertilizer. We have a bonsai soil for conifers that is actually pretty good for citrus, if you are looking for something pre-bagged that is ready to use. There are a few pre-bagged “citrus soils” available out there, but they are not really the best for citrus in my opinion.
Ponderosa Lemons and Calamondin oranges are in stock now!
Do you have dwarf winterberry in stock?
We do have Red Sprite Dwarf Winterberry in 3 gallon pots for $40.95. Keep in mind that you will also need a male Winterberry if you want your Red Sprite to berry. We carry the male variety, Jim Dandy, which is regularly $49.95 but is on sale for $20.00 until they are gone.
Do you have an online application form, im a college student looking for a seasonal jo and saw a help wanted post online for your business but can not find a application online?
We do not have online applications. We like applicants to come into the store so that we are able to meet and talk with them a moment or two when they are turning in applications so that we get a sense of whether or not they would be a good fit for open positions.
Do you have any Hansa Rugosa roses in stock?
We have Salt Spray Pink and Salt Spray White for $37.95 in 3 gallon pots
Do you have tree form hydrangeas and dee runk boxwoods? I am also looking for a fastigiate Chinese Dogwood(Cornus kousa ‘Fastigiata’)and lavender twist redbud tree. I haven’t seen them in nurseries in my immediate area. Thanks.
We do have 2 sizes of tree form Hydrangeas which run $59.95 and $109.95. We do not carry the Dee Runk Boxwood. We have large Lavender Twist Redbuds for $199.95. I think there may be some confusion on the dogwood…we do carry Kousa Dogwoods, but the Fastigiata is not a Chinese (Kousa) type. It is a form of Cornus Florida which is the American Dogwood. It is not at all common or easy to find and we do not carry it. Hope this info. gives some clarification.
Do you carry Siberian Cypress?
Thank you.
Sorry, but we do not carry Siberian Cypress.
Thank you.
Hello,
I’m looking for a Windmill Palm and/or a Cold hardy Banana tree for my house in Ocean city.
Do you have either? If so, how much are they?
We do have Musa Basjoo which is the cold hardy Banana…they are $7.99. We do not have the Windmill Palm in stock, but may be able to get for you. If you are interested in a price, call the greenhouse at 301-694-7012 on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays during the day and ask for Jodi.
We just got one Windmill Palm…that was all I could get, but it is a nice one!
Do you carry Orange Rhododendron (Azalea)?
We do carry the orange deciduous Azaleas, however, we do not have any left at this point…the only deciduous variety that we have left is pink. We will carry the orange ones again in the spring, but if you need them sooner, you can call the store (301)n694-7012 and check with Trevor to see if he can add whatever you need to his fall order. Thanks!
Do you have bonsai trees?
Yes, we do carry bonsai all year ’round.
Do you have diamond frost? Is it an annual?
e do carry Euphorbia ‘Dianond Frost’ in both the regular white and the ‘Blush’ varieties. Yes, it is an annual in this area…it is only winter hardy in zones 10 and 11. That being said, it is a fantastic addition to containers, hanging baskets and even beds. It is heat and drought tolerant and has mounds of airy blooms all summer long. A great all around plant!
Do you carry coarse (A-3)vermiculite?
Yes, we carry coarse (A-3) vermiculite…also known as horticultural vermiculite. We carry it in very large 4 cu. foot bags for $34.99. Thanks for checking with us!
Do you carry any miniature roses?
Yes, we do but call before you come to make sure we have plenty in stock that day!
I am looking for Nandina domestica ‘Alba’ with white/yellow berries. Also if there is any variety that has definite yellow berries, I would be interested in it also. Can you help? Thanks.
We do have a few ‘Alba’s in stock in a 7 gallon pot @$82.95, but would be willing to discount to $49.99 at this slow time of year.
Thanks for checking with us!
Hello
I’m looking for fast growing shade tree. I need a decent size, maybe two of these. We are a non profit youth organization. Can you help us?
Yes, we can help and can, at least, offer a nice discount…call before you go into the store and make sure that Trevor is there…he is in charge of the outdoor nursery items.
Thanks for checking with us!
I am looking for hollyhock nigra and other colors …. Do
You carry as plants?
Thanks
We do carry Hollyhocks in our perennial section. We did have black earlier, but are out now…unless there are a few #2 quality hanging out in the coldhouse. Give a call into the store (301) 694-7012 and ask someone to check there for you. There are only red in the #1 quality at this time.
Thanks!
I know it is late in the season, but I lost a parsley plant in the storm and would like to replace it. Do you still have parsley plants?
Yes, we do…we carry both flat leaf and curly leaf parsley, and many other herbs, all year long. It is always best to call before you come, just to make sure we are not out of stock until the next truck.
Do you carry the rising sun redbud tree?
I will check with our nursery manager today and post the answer here.
Do you carry Photinia glabra, or would I be able to order one?
We only carry Photinia Fraseri, but if you look it up, it seems really similar to us. Thanks!
Is it too late in the season to plant creeping thyme? If not what varieties do you carry?
No, it is not too late…fall is a great time to plant because the cooler temperatures and, generally, abundant precipitation make plants less likely to be stressed by transplanting. We carry 10 or more varieties in the spring, but we almost always have Golden Lemon Thyme, which is a very pretty variegated variety with a lovely lemony scent. We also usually have Silver Edged, which is also pretty and then we almost always have a plain green variety or two and a dwarf variety like Minus or Elfin. Call for exact varieties on any given day. Thanks!
Will you be carrying fall bulbs, dwarf lilies?
Yes, and they will be in any day now…call in a week or so for the latest in what has arrived…and thanks for checking with us!
when will you guys be hiring?
Usually at the beginning of March. Thanks for checking with us!
Do you have a yellow flowering african violets?
No, sorry. They are very rare and yellow is not a stable color in violets so I cannot even recommend anyplace to get one.
Do you have any white flowering african violets?
When you guys start hiring where can i find a application?
For applications, please come into our store anytime during business hours.
Do you sell fava bean seeds?
Yes we do…in 2 package sizes!
Hello! Will you guys be carrying “Creeping Jenny” this spring/summer. I am obsessed with how it looks and want to get some into my containers this year. Also, will you be carrying lemon grass? I had a hard time finding that last year. Thanks!
Yes to both questions! We love the color of Lysimachia (Creeping Jenny) too! It will be in our gourmet annual selection and will probably be in the first week of May. The Lemon Grass will be on our herb table out in the perennial section around the same time. You should call first to make sure they have arrived and are in stock on any given day before you drive over. Thanks for checking with us!
Thanks for the prompt reply! Can’t wait until May finally gets here!
Do you carry blue lobelia? And is it a perrenial in this area?
Yes, we do carry it in our perennial area because it is, indeed a perennial:)
Thanks so much! It’s become a very special plant to me.
thanks so much; I’ve had a special ‘relationship’ with this plant….!
Can you order a specific color of vinca? I am looking for peach or tangerine color vincas. I need approximately 100 plants for the front yard and am looking for peach and another coordinating color? What is the cost?
Yes, we carry Apricot in market packs. It goes nicely with red or a very deep pink. 2 flats would be 96 plants. Each flat is $23.92, but if the whole flat is full of only 1 variety/color you get a 10% discount. With the discount but before tax, 2 flats would be $43.06. If you send me an email and let me know approximately when you would like to have them, I can make sure we have them in stock for you.
Thanks for checking with us!
Will you carry yellow and purple petunas this year?
Yes, we have them in stock right now and will carry them for the rest of the season, along with Wave Petunias, Supertunias, Supercascade Petunias, etc. We get several annual trucks each week, so it is best to call before coming to make sure that we have them in stock on any given day. Thanks for checking with us!
My pear trees, have flowered, the fruit never ripened, and the leaves on one of the trees, devoloped black spots. Any clue?
Research pear midge and fire blight and maybe look at some pictures of each to see if either of those look like the problem. You can also take a sample to the Maryland Extension Agency for identification. Thanks for the question.
I purchcased a $10 gardenia plant from you last year. Tended it & kept the plant healthy however it never produced one single flower! What a disappointment as Gardenia has such fragrant blooms. I would like to purchase a balcony size Hybiscus, do have these available with blossoms on them? What is the cost? I would like one in a 10″ pot.
Thank you
We do have nice 10″ pot Hibiscus for $24.99 in stock right now. As for your gardenia…is it possible that you were too kind to it? If you were fertilizing it regularly and getting healthy new growth, it could have had too much nitrogen from the fertilizer which promotes foliage growth rather than blooms. If you try again, use a mild acid fertilizer only once a month and then take a break from the fertilizer for a month and when you start again, use a “bloom booster” type fertilizer. You will notice that the middle of the 3 numbers (potash) that you see on fertilizers will be considerably higher than the other 2 numbers (nitrogen and phosphorus) on bloom boosting fertilizers. Good luck!
Do you have recommendations for precautions we should take with our trees, especially new ones, with the cicadas coming? Thanks!
I would recommend that, as much as possible, you protect young trees with netting that has holes less than 1/2″ across. You may know that the cicadas do not feed on your trees once they have emerged, but the females do “excavate” into the wood of tree branches to lay eggs which can be damaging on smaller trees and branches. If your young trees have a trunk with a caliper of less than 1.5″, make sure that you cover the trunk too as the females may excavate there, as well. On larger trees, you may see a branch tip droop or lose a few leaves from excavation damage, but it will be minimal and will not affect the overall health of the tree. Thanks for your question!
